The first was one that president Claudia Sheinbaum would like people to keep in mind: The continuing fall in violence across the country. According to official figures (which The Mexico Political Economist has explained are independently verifiable enough to be credible) the country’s murder rate has fallen by 46% since September 2024.
The other stat is one the government isn’t so keen about.
