It has been just over a week since Carlos Manzo’s murder. Though the popular mayor’s death sparked the greatest outrage and media attention, Claudia Sheinbaum’s administration understands the issue goes far beyond Manzo’s municipality of Uruapan.
Manzo was only the latest in a string of organised crime-linked murders in Michoacán, so the federal government’s approach has been to address criminal violence across the whole state.
