Uncharted Mexico: Online oligarchs

Cash-loving Mexicans were forced into e-commerce by the pandemic, but have since continued to adopt it at much faster rates than the rest of the world. Mexico’s rate of online retail adoption was the fastest on Earth in 2023, and it continues to grow more than 20% annually.
Now, as e-commerce starts to gobble up retail in the country, a worrying phenomenon is emerging, says Mexico’s soon-to-be extinct regulator, Cofece.
